Brokenness, weakness, failure. These struggles are universal. When it comes to the human heart, God can bring forth the best out of our worst. God can change even the hardest heart and most challenging circumstances. In this message series, Pastor Ryan will uncover truths from the life of the biblical hero, Jacob, who is the epitome of God’s power and grace to change and renew even the most stubborn heart.

4 Steps to Mending Broken Relationships

1. Humility

He himself went on ahead and bowed to the ground seven times until he approached his brother.
Genesis 33:3 (CSB)

2. Forgiveness

But Esau ran to meet him, hugged him, threw his arms around him, and kissed him. Then they wept.
Genesis 33:4 (CSB)

And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.
Ephesians 4:32 (CSB)

3. Restitution

He spent the night there and took part of what he had brought with him as a gift for his brother Esau:14 two hundred female goats, twenty male goats, two hundred ewes, twenty rams, 15 thirty milk camels with their young, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female donkeys, and ten male donkeys. 16 He entrusted them to his slaves as separate herds and said to them, “Go on ahead of me, and leave some distance between the herds.”
Genesis 32:13-16 (CSB)

4. Reconciliation

But Jacob said, “No, please! If I have found favor with you, take this gift from me. For indeed, I have seen your face, and it is like seeing God’s face, since you have accepted me. 11 Please take my present that was brought to you, because God has been gracious to me and I have everything I need.” So Jacob urged him until he accepted.12 Then Esau said, “Let’s move on, and I’ll go ahead of you.”
Genesis 33:10-12 (CSB)

If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:18 (CSB)

He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (CSB)
